Yim Yam Hostel & Garden

Yim Yam Hostel & Garden offers mixed and female-only dormitories on bunk beds, alongside private rooms with a double or queen bed. Every room has air conditioning, and several rooms look out over the city, while a garden view is also available.

The dormitory beds sleep up to 12 guests, and the Family Room sleeps up to four guests with a choice of bed set-ups. The private rooms include a shower or a bathroom, and several rooms have wireless internet access. Some dormitories provide slippers and lockers. The Standard Room and the Twin Room with Shower sleep up to two guests each.

The hostel's garden is a green space to relax in between trips around Bangkok, and the shared lounge has a TV area. Yim Yam Hostel & Garden also has an elevator, which is useful with luggage. The hostel sits on Petchburi Road in Pratunam, a busy commercial district of central Bangkok where clothing markets, shopping malls and office towers stand close together. Street-food stalls and small shops line the side streets, and the city is close at hand here, with its traffic and crowds part of the daily rhythm.

The Ratchathewi BTS station is 200 m away and Phaya Thai BTS station is 450 m away, so the Skytrain is the simplest way to cross the city. Jim Thompson House, a teak Thai house museum with a collection of Thai silk and art, is 650 m away, and Siam Paragon, a large shopping centre with an aquarium and cinemas, is 750 m away. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, inside the Grand Palace complex, is 4.3 km away, while Chatuchak Weekend Market is a longer trip out and the Khaosan Road backpacker area lies in the old city.

A good day could start at Jim Thompson House, then continue to Siam Paragon for lunch and a look at the shops, before taking the Skytrain back to Ratchathewi. The Chao Phraya riverfront, with Asiatique, is a longer trip across town for the evening. Back at the hostel, the garden is a green place to finish the day.
