Van Vliet Hostel

Every room at Van Vliet Hostel has air conditioning, and room sizes run from 12 to 19 m². Beds range from a king bed and a queen bed to two single beds, and one room offers bunk beds in a four-bed mixed dormitory for up to four guests.

Some rooms come with a private bathroom and a shower, while others share one, so guests can choose the level of privacy they prefer. Most rooms sleep up to two guests.

Guests can use the bar on site, the shuttle service and bicycles, and free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms. Wi-Fi is also available in the public areas, and the hostel has 24-hour security.

Van Vliet Hostel is in the Tha Wa Su Kri area of Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Siamese kingdom, whose temple ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The streets nearby mix shops, banks and pharmacies with the temple sites, so the area feels like a working town rather than a museum.

Wat Mahathat, known for its Buddha head set among tree roots, is 750 m away, and Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the former royal temple, is 1.7 km away. Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan, with its large seated Buddha beside the river, is 1.4 km away, and Chantharakasem National Museum, which displays artefacts from the Ayutthaya period, is also close by. Ayutthaya Train Station, 950 m away, has trains to Bangkok, and Don Mueang International Airport is 49.3 km away.

A good day could start with Wat Mahathat in the morning, then continue at a slower pace through the ruins and the museum on one of the hostel's bicycles. The bar makes an easy place to end the day, with the temples of the old city close by. Guests who want more time among the ruins can return to the hostel for a rest before heading out again, and the bar is there for the evening.
