The Yard Hostel Bangkok offers private rooms with a queen or king bed alongside mixed dormitories with bunk beds and single beds. The Phaya Thai Palace museum and the Wat Aphai Thayaram pagoda are close by, so the streets around the hostel hold a few sights of their own.

A good day could begin at the Chatuchak Weekend Market, which opens on weekends, and continue to the Grand Palace, 6.2 km away, and to Wat Arun on the riverbank. The old city holds the palace and the temples on the river, and Khaosan Road, the backpacker street with bars and street food, makes a good evening after the temples, with street food stalls along its length.
