The Pillow Hostel

Rooms at The Pillow Hostel run from six-bed dormitories to private rooms, and every room has air conditioning. Some rooms have a city view, and the Standard Twin with Balcony has a balcony or terrace. Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and several rooms have a private bathroom, while the mixed dormitory has a shared one.

Beds vary from bunk beds in the dormitories to two queen beds in the Family Room. Rooms for up to three guests combine a single bed with a double bed or a queen bed, and the Twin Room has two single beds. The Family Room measures 28 m², and the Double Room and the Triple Room Non View each measure 14 m².

The Pillow Hostel has a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, lockers, daily housekeeping and a laundry service. Cash withdrawal is available on site, English and Thai are spoken, and an airport transfer is offered.

For food and drink there is a restaurant, a bar, room service and Asian breakfast. The shared lounge/TV area has a large flat-screen TV, and there is a smoking area alongside the non-smoking rooms. Guests can order drinks at the bar or have a meal sent to their room.

The hostel also has 24-hour security and on-site parking. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and WiFi is also available in the public areas. Guests arriving by car can use the on-site parking.

The Pillow Hostel is on Khao San Road itself, in the Khao San area of Phranakorn district, the old quarter of Bangkok where the palaces and temples of Rattanakosin sit close together. The street has long been a gathering point for backpackers, lined with guesthouses, street-food stalls, bars and tailor shops, and the lanes around it stay busy into the evening. It is a lively area for a first visit to Bangkok, with the old quarter's sights close at hand.

The Grand Palace is 1.2 km away, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) stands inside the palace grounds. Wat Pho, the temple known as Wat Phra Chetuphon, is home to a giant reclining Buddha, and Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is 2 km away on the Chao Phraya riverbank. For trips further afield, the Sam Yot MRT station is 1.4 km away, and Asiatique - The Riverfront, a riverside shopping and dining complex, is 6.1 km away.

One way to spend a day is to walk to the Grand Palace and the temples, then head down to the Phra Arthit ferry pier, 700 m from the hostel, and take a boat along the Chao Phraya river.
