The Mixx Hostel

The rooms at The Mixx Hostel are dormitory rooms with single beds or bunk beds, set up for one guest or for up to three guests. Several rooms have a street view and air conditioning, and rooms can have a fan, a seating area, a clothes rack, an alarm clock and a wake-up service.

Some of the dormitory rooms have a shared bathroom, and free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms. Rooms can also have an extra long bed, a locker and complimentary tea, so the features depend on the room you book, and the beds depend on the room as well.

Buffet and continental breakfast are offered at The Mixx Hostel, and the hostel has a 24-hour front desk, with express check-in and check-out also offered. The hostel has an elevator, a shared lounge and TV area, and 24-hour security, and it also has shops.

Tours can be arranged, and there is currency exchange, a cash withdrawal service, lockers, luggage storage and safety deposit boxes. Daily housekeeping and a laundry service are available, and facilities for disabled guests are provided. Valuables can be kept in the safety deposit boxes, and bags can go into the luggage storage while you explore. Lockers can be used for smaller items. Languages spoken include English, Burmese, Chinese (Mandarin) and Thai.

The Mixx Hostel sits in the Khao San area of Bangkok, a district long popular with budget travellers and known for its guesthouses, street food stalls and bars. Khao San Road, the lively street that gives the area its character, is 100 m away. Backpacker hostels, guesthouses and small hotels line the lanes, and the area is a practical place to stay for a first visit to the old city.

The old city's main sights are close by. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) is 1.1 km away and the Grand Palace is 1.3 km away, both inside the same royal complex. Wat Arun lies across the Chao Phraya River, 2 km from the hostel, and the Phra Arthit ferry pier is 600 m away for boat trips along the river.

A good first day could start at the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, continue at the Bangkok National Museum, and end with a boat across the river to Wat Arun. In the evening, Khao San Road and the lanes around it are lively, with street food and bars. Boats along the Chao Phraya River are an easy way to move between the riverside sights, and the Phra Arthit pier is nearby for that purpose.
