Thai Siwilai

The rooms at Thai Siwilai range from single rooms to family rooms and dormitory rooms with bunk beds, and bunk beds are the usual sleeping arrangement here. Several rooms measure 20 or 25 m², and the bathrooms in several of them are shared.

Capacities range from one guest to four, and several rooms have air conditioning, blackout curtains or a desk. Toiletries and towels are provided in some rooms, and a flat-screen TV is fitted in a few of them.

Thai Siwilai is on Tani Road in the Khaosan area of Bangkok's old city, a busy neighbourhood of guesthouses, street-food stalls and bars around Khao San Road, 200 m away. Narrow side streets run off the main road, and the temples of the old city are all within a few kilometres.

The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) sits within the Grand Palace complex, and The Grand Palace is 1.4 km away. Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn on the opposite bank of the river, is 2.1 km away. Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) is 20.5 km away and Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is 28.3 km away. The Phra Arthit and Phra Pin Klao ferry piers are close by, and the river is a practical way to reach the temples.

A full day could start with the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, continue to the reclining Buddha at Wat Phra Chetuphon, and end with an evening walk along Khao San Road. Jim Thompson House, a teak house museum with a collection of Thai silk, is further out in the city, and it makes a good change of pace from the temples of the old city.
