Suan Bang Bon B&B Inn is on Aoluk Prasang Road in the Plai Phraya area of Krabi province, on the mainland rather than on one of the islands. The hamlet of Plairpraya is 1.9 km away. The beaches and limestone cliffs for which Krabi is known are some distance from the hostel, so it works well as a base for day trips.

The Hong Islands, 22.8 km away, are reached by boat from Krabi, and the Krabi Elephant Sanctuary makes a day out on its own. Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea), 47.2 km away, sits on a hill that is reached by a long staircase. Krabi International Airport (KBV) is 51.2 km away, and Ao Nang Beach, the beach town on the coast, is 56.6 km from the hostel. Railay Beach is usually reached by longtail boat, and its limestone cliffs are among the best-known views of the province. Than Bok Khorani National Park, with its waterfalls and forest trails, is also a day trip from the hostel.

A good day could start with the Krabi Elephant Sanctuary and continue to Tiger Cave Temple, which is a climb up a staircase on the hill. Boat trips to the Hong Islands and Railay depend on sea conditions, so the boat day is best planned around the weather, and the rest of the province can be combined into several days of trips from one base.
