Ao Nang is a beach town on the Andaman coast of Krabi province, with a lively seafront and boats leaving from its piers for the limestone islands and bays nearby. Its beaches, boat departures and limestone scenery are all close together. The hostel is in Ao Nang itself, and the town's mosque and weekend market are both about 400 m away.
Ao Nang Beach, the town's main beach, is 1.4 km from the hostel. Railay Beach, 2.6 km away, is reached only by boat and is known for its limestone cliffs, and Phra Nang Cave, on the Railay peninsula, can be reached on foot from the beach. Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea), 13.9 km away, is a hillside temple reached by a long staircase. Krabi International Airport is 17.6 km away.
A good day could start with a swim at Ao Nang Beach, then a longtail boat to Railay and a walk to Phra Nang Cave, with Tiger Cave Temple making a good trip inland for the second part of the day. Krabi town, the provincial capital, is also reachable by road for a day out. Boat trips can be cancelled in rough seas, which are more common in the rainy season.
