Wat Don Muang, a local temple with a pagoda, is in the neighbourhood and makes an easy morning visit close to the hostel.

A full day in the old city could take in the Grand Palace, which is 22.6 km away, and Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, on the bank of the Chao Phraya river. Both sights are best reached by taxi or by train and a short onward ride, and the riverside area around Wat Arun makes a good place to end the day with a walk along the river.
