The river is a short distance away, and its piers give access to the old city across the water.

Surasak BTS station is 300 m from the hostel, and its Silom line runs to Siam, Bangkok's main shopping district with the Siam Paragon mall. Saphan Taksin BTS station, 750 m away, is on the same line and connects to the river piers. Wat Suthiwararam, a Buddhist temple, is also close by, while Asiatique - The Riverfront, 2.3 km away, is a riverside complex of shops and restaurants with a night market.

A good day could begin on the river: take a Chao Phraya boat from Sathon Pier, 900 m from the hostel, across to the west bank, where Wat Arun, with its tall spire decorated in porcelain, and the Grand Palace stand. Chatuchak Weekend Market, 9.7 km away, is a separate outing for the weekend, with stalls selling clothes, food and crafts.
