Sam's Lodge Hotel is on Sukhumvit Soi 19, one of the side lanes running off Sukhumvit Road in central Bangkok. The street is a busy stretch of shops, tailors and small eateries, and the Asok BTS Skytrain station, 200 m away, is one of the quickest ways to reach the rest of the city. The Sukhumvit MRT station is also a short walk, so the city is easy to reach without a car.

Further afield, the Jim Thompson House, the teak house of the American silk entrepreneur Jim Thompson, is 3.6 km away. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of Bangkok's best-known markets, is 6.9 km away and is mostly visited at weekends. Kamthieng House Museum, a traditional northern Thai wooden house, is a short walk from the hotel, and the Grand Palace is 7.5 km away in the old city.

A good day could take in the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, which sit on either side of the Chao Phraya river, and end with a meal in the Asok area. A boat trip along the river is a common way to reach the old city from the riverside. Suvarnabhumi Airport, 21.2 km away, is Bangkok's main international airport, and Don Mueang is a similar distance from the hotel.
