The area is largely residential, with canals, narrow lanes and neighbourhood markets, and it feels quite different from the busy streets of the old city across the water. Guests who want a quieter neighbourhood to return to after a day of sightseeing will find it a calm contrast to the river's eastern bank.

The Southern Bus Terminal is 650 m from the guesthouse, a useful point of departure for journeys out of the city. Wat Suwannakhiri, a temple with a pagoda, is about 300 m away, and a ferry pier is nearby for boats on the Chao Phraya. Across the river, the Grand Palace is 4.4 km away, and Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, stands on the Thonburi bank at 4.8 km.

A good day could start at Wat Arun, followed by a ferry across the river to the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Phra Kaew, which sits inside its walls. The Song Klong Floating Market, 800 m from the guesthouse, makes an easy outing for a slower morning, and the canal-side streets around it are a quieter way to spend the afternoon.
