Further afield, Jim Thompson House is a teak-house museum with Thai art and silk collections, and Wat Arun is a temple on the bank of the Chao Phraya river, and the Buddhist temple Wat Khitchakut Wiharn is also close to the hostel.

A day could start at Chatuchak Weekend Market, 4.4 km away and open at weekends, selling clothing, food and crafts, and then continue to the Grand Palace in the old city, one of the best-known sights in Bangkok. Wat Arun can be added to the same day, as it stands on the bank of the Chao Phraya river.
