Poshtel 56

The rooms at Poshtel 56 are mostly mixed dormitory rooms with bunk or single beds, along with a queen bed room and a double room for up to three guests. The rooms measure between 20 and 23 m², and several of them have a city view.

Rooms can have air conditioning, blackout curtains, a mosquito net, a hair dryer and a microwave, and some have soundproofing or an electric kettle. In the dormitory rooms the bathroom is shared, with showers and toiletries.

Facilities at Poshtel 56 include a shared lounge and TV area, a fitness centre, a game room, complimentary movies, on-site entertainment and a terrace. Tours, car hire, a taxi service and an airport transfer are also available for getting around Bangkok.

Guests can use luggage storage, a laundromat, dry cleaning and an ironing service, and the hostel has a shared kitchen and a kitchenette. Meals are available at the restaurant, where dishes are ordered a la carte, and there is a vending machine, fruit and snacks, and bottled water.

Poshtel 56 is on Charoen Krung Road in the Yan Nawa area of Sathon, a riverside district where old shophouses and newer office towers stand side by side. Guests who want to stay close to the Chao Phraya river and the sights of the old city will find the skytrain nearby. The area is busy in the daytime, with food stalls and small shops along the nearby lanes.

The nearest transport is Saphan Taksin BTS Station, 550 m away, where the skytrain meets the river ferries. Across the river, Wat Arun, the riverside temple with its tall prang, stands 4.2 km away. Asiatique The Riverfront, a shopping complex on the water, is 1.5 km off, and The Grand Palace, the royal complex in the old city, is 4.6 km away, with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha inside it.

A good day can start with a short walk to Saphan Taksin and a river boat across to Wat Arun, then a taxi to The Grand Palace. Jim Thompson House, a museum of Thai silk and art in a set of traditional teak houses, is also worth a visit, and a small pagoda temple, Wat Sutthi Wararam, stands next to the area. Asiatique is a pleasant place to end the day by the river.
