Pier 49 Hostel

The rooms at Pier 49 Hostel offer several ways to sleep, from mixed and female-only dormitories with bunk beds to capsules and a private double room with a shared bathroom. Rooms can have air conditioning, a hair dryer, a microwave, lockers and a shower, and the bathroom is shared in several of them. Lockers give guests a place to keep their belongings in the rooms. Free Wi-Fi and free instant coffee are also available in some rooms.

Some dormitories have a city view, and double beds are available in the double rooms. Guests in the dormitories share the bathroom and shower, while the capsules give each guest a sleeping space of their own.

The BTS Skytrain runs above Sukhumvit Road, and the stations along it are the easiest way to cross the city without relying on the road.

Thong Lo BTS Station is 450 m away and Phrom Phong BTS Station is 700 m, so the Skytrain is the simplest way to reach Siam and the central shopping areas, including the Emporium near Phrom Phong. Closer still, the Soi 38 Nightmarket is an evening market on Sukhumvit Soi 38, while the Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the largest markets in the country, is 8.5 km away.

A full day can start with the Grand Palace, 9.4 km away, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) in its grounds, then cross the Chao Phraya to Wat Arun, a riverside temple on the western bank. In the afternoon, the Jim Thompson House, a teak-built house museum in central Bangkok, is a pleasant break after a morning of temples, and it is a short visit from the other sights.
