Rooms at Phra Nakhon Poshtel go from a 14 m² standard room with a king bed to a 35 m² family room with two king beds for up to four guests. Several rooms have a city view, some have air conditioning, and the 22 m² quadruple room is set up with two bunk beds.

The Grand Palace is 750 m away, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which sits inside the palace complex, is 550 m from the hostel. Wat Phra Chetuphon, known as Wat Pho and home to a giant reclining Buddha, is 900 m away, and Wat Arun, the riverside temple with its tall central tower, lies on the far bank of the Chao Phraya. Sam Yot MRT Station is 950 m away, a useful link to the rest of Bangkok, and Khaosan Road itself gives the area its character.

A good day on foot starts at the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, continues to Wat Phra Chetuphon, and ends with a ferry across the river to Wat Arun. In the evening, Khaosan Road is a short walk away for street food and bars. Don Mueang International Airport lies further out, and Suvarnabhumi Airport is further still.
