Photohostel

The rooms at Photohostel measure between 26 and 32 m², with king beds in the deluxe double rooms and bunk beds in the quadruple and family rooms. Several rooms have a private bathroom with a walk-in shower or a bathtub, and some look out over the river.

Capacity runs from two to five guests depending on the room, and some rooms have air conditioning, blackout curtains or a bathtub. The rooms with king beds sleep two to four guests, and the bunk-bed rooms sleep up to five.

The hostel offers a coffee shop, restaurants and a kitchen, along with daily housekeeping, luggage storage and a laundry service. Ticket services are available, and filming locations and audio-visual equipment for special events are also offered.

Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, with wired internet and WiFi in the public areas, and parking nearby is available.

The languages spoken include English, Thai, Burmese, Dutch and German. Baby cots can be requested, and access to the rooms is by stairs. Rooms can have an in-room safe box, a clothes rack, blackout curtains and a fold-up bed, and kids toothbrushes are offered as well. Linens are provided in the rooms, and some rooms have a coffee/tea maker and a refrigerator.

Photohostel is in Talat Noi, a small old neighbourhood in the Samphanthawong district beside the Chao Phraya river and next to Bangkok's Chinatown. The area mixes temples, family-run shops and riverside piers with the busy Chinatown streets close by. Its narrow lanes are lined with shrines, shophouses and old mansions, and the river is the main route through the city, with boats heading up and down it from the piers.

Around the hostel you will find the Chow Sue Kong Shrine and the So Heng Tai Mansion, both within 100 m, along with the Talad Noi Museum and the Marine Department pier, a ferry stop on the river. The Khlong San BTS station is 650 m away and the Hua Lamphong MRT station is 700 m away, which connects you to the rest of the city. Jim Thompson House, a teak mansion and museum of Thai silk, is 2.4 km away, and Wat Arun, with its tall prang, is 2.7 km away.

A good day could start in the Chinatown lanes and the streets of Talat Noi, continue to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, and end at Wat Arun on the river. From the hostel, the Khlong San BTS station is the nearest rail link to the rest of the city, so the rest of the day is easy to plan around it.
