The river is one of the easiest ways to get around. A pier stands 50 m away, and boats run along the Chao Phraya towards the big landmarks. Khaosan Road is 900 m away, a busy street of guesthouses, street-food stalls and bars. The Grand Palace is 2 km away, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Phra Kaew, sits inside its complex, while Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is across the river at 2.7 km. Jim Thompson House, the former home of the American who revived Thai silk, is 3.9 km away. Two MRT stations, Bang Yi Khan and Sirindhorn, are also in the area.

A good day can start with the temples close by, such as Wat Sam Phraya Worawihan, then continue on foot to Khaosan Road and the riverside, and end with a river boat from the pier. Evenings spent watching the river are an easy way to end the day.
