Wat Arun is 4.3 km away across the river, and the Grand Palace is 4.5 km away in the old city, with Khaosan Road in the same district. The Bangkokian Museum and the Patpong Museum are in the same part of Silom, and the Jim Thompson House, a collection of traditional teak houses, is further away.

A good day could begin with the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, then continue to Asiatique The Riverfront in the evening. Chatuchak Weekend Market, further out, is the place for a weekend morning, and the streets of Silom are busy with food stalls after dark. Suvarnabhumi Airport is 24.8 km away, so allow for the drive when planning arrivals and departures.
