Orchid Hostel

The rooms at Orchid Hostel measure between 8 and 15 m² and include queen beds, pairs of single beds and bunk beds in the dormitories. Several rooms have a shared bathroom, while one double room has a private bathroom. The dormitories are split by gender, with two female-only rooms and one men-only room.

Some rooms have a seating area, and several have individual air conditioning. The double room with a private bathroom also has a closet and its own shower. Guests in the shared rooms use a bathroom together with other guests, and the bunk beds sit in the dormitory rooms.

Orchid Hostel offers luggage storage, daily housekeeping, an ironing service and an on-site laundromat, and guests can use the shared kitchen. Daily housekeeping means guests' rooms are tidied each day, and guests can leave their luggage in storage while they explore the city. The hostel also has a designated smoking area.

Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms and in the public areas. There is a restaurant that serves coffee and tea, and English, Burmese and Thai are spoken at the hostel.

Rooms can have air conditioning, showers, towels, linens and free bottled water, and the rooms are non-smoking. Guests who stay in the dormitories share the bathroom, while the private double room has its own.

Orchid Hostel stands on Sukhumvit Soi 1 in central Bangkok, in a stretch of the Sukhumvit area where hotels, offices, hospitals and street food stalls sit side by side. Sukhumvit Road itself is one of the city's main arteries, with the BTS line running overhead. The neighbourhood stays busy through the day and into the evening, and it suits anyone who wants to be close to the Skytrain and to the shopping and nightlife of Sukhumvit.

Phloen Chit BTS station is 500 m from the hostel, and Bumrungrad International Hospital, one of the best-known hospitals in Bangkok, is 150 m away. Jim Thompson House, a teak house museum that was once the home of the American silk entrepreneur, is 2.5 km away. The Erawan Shrine, a Hindu shrine in the Ratchaprasong area, is 1.2 km away.

A day could begin at Jim Thompson House and continue to Chatuchak Weekend Market, which is open on Saturdays and Sundays. The Grand Palace, 6.5 km away, and Wat Arun on the Chao Phraya river are a longer trip across the city, so it helps to plan a day of temples around the river. The Skytrain covers much of the trip from the hostel to the shopping districts, and taxis and river boats cover the rest.
