The lanes around Khaosan Road are lively in the evening, with street food, bars and small shops, while the streets behind the main road are quieter and narrower. The area is easy to explore on foot, and most of the sights can be reached without a long walk.

Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, stands inside the same complex as the Grand Palace.
