Nivas Siam Hostel

Most of the rooms at Nivas Siam Hostel are dormitories, measuring 15 to 35 m². The sleeping places range from one bed in a mixed or female-only dormitory to rooms for up to ten guests, and the bed set-ups include bunk beds, single beds and a futon.

Several rooms have air conditioning, a private entrance or kitchenware, and in several the bathroom is shared. Several rooms also have a flat-screen TV, a mirror and a shower. Most of the rooms have a city view, and the choice runs from dormitory beds to a room for three guests and one for up to ten.

Nivas Siam Hostel offers an airport transfer, tours, car hire, a taxi service and bicycle rental, along with a concierge, currency exchange, luggage storage and lockers. A 24-hour front desk is on site, and laundry and ironing services are available.

The property has a coffee shop, restaurants and a shared kitchen, and guests can use the garden, the shared lounge/TV area and the game room. Languages spoken include English and Thai, and a postal service and a meeting or banquet space are also offered.

Parking is on site, with bicycle parking as well, and free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, with internet access and WiFi in public areas too.

Nivas Siam Hostel is in Thonburi, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, in a neighbourhood of narrow sois, temples and pagodas. The river separates it from the old city, where the best-known sights lie on the east bank, so visiting them means crossing the water. Walking the lanes around the temples gives a view of daily life on this side of the river.

Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is 1.8 km away on the same bank, with its tall central prang rising above the river. The Grand Palace lies across the water at 2.5 km, and the Naowachamnian ferry terminal is 500 m from the hostel for crossing the river. The nearest rail link is the Wongwian Yai BTS Station, 400 m away, where the Silom line crosses the river towards the Silom and Sala Daeng business district. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the largest markets in Bangkok, is 10.2 km away.

A day could begin at Wat Arun, then cross by river boat to the Grand Palace and Khaosan Road, the backpacker street in Banglamphu on the east bank, with its guesthouses and street-food stalls. The Silom line brings you back across the river to the hostel in the evening.
