New Siam III Guest House

The guesthouse offers double, twin, triple and queen-bed rooms, several of them with a city view. Many have air conditioning, a telephone and a TV with satellite and cable channels, and many bathrooms come with toiletries and towels.

Some rooms sleep two guests, others three or four. A 21 m² triple room has three single beds for three guests, one room has a desk and a refrigerator, and a coffee and tea maker is available in other rooms. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and the garden and the shared lounge and TV area give guests somewhere to spend time outside the rooms.

The front desk is open 24 hours, and luggage storage and safety deposit boxes are available. The public areas have air conditioning, and the property is wheelchair accessible.

Daily housekeeping, laundry and ironing services are available, and there is an airport transfer, a shuttle service and a taxi service. Tours are offered too, and the property has its own garden and terrace.

The garden, the terrace and a shared lounge and TV area give you places to relax, and there is a bar on site. Languages spoken at the property include English, Thai, Burmese and Lao, and the air-conditioned public areas are a comfortable place to spend a warm afternoon.

New Siam III Guest House sits in Chanasongkram, in the Banglamphu district of Bangkok's old city, an area of narrow lanes, older shophouses and small guesthouses between the Chao Phraya river and the historic temple complex. The neighbourhood is relaxed by day and livelier after dark, and most of the old city's main sights can be reached on foot, though Wat Arun needs a boat.

Khaosan Road is 400 m away, a lively backpacker street lined with bars, street food stalls and small shops. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) stands inside the Grand Palace complex, which is 1.4 km from the guesthouse. Ban Phra Athit, a historic riverside community, is 100 m away, and Wat Arun, 2.2 km away, is a riverside temple known for its tall, tiered prang, reached by a short ferry crossing.

A full day here starts at the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, continues with a ferry across the river to Wat Arun, and ends on Khaosan Road in the evening. The Jim Thompson House, a museum in the former home of the American who revived Thai silk, makes a quieter change of pace for the afternoon, and the lanes back to the guesthouse are quick to walk after dark.
