Streets nearby are quieter in the evening than the busy centre, and the district gives a closer look at everyday life in Bangkok.

Huai Khwang MRT station is a short walk from the hostel. The Blue Line runs south through Sukhumvit toward the city centre, and the sprawling Chatuchak Weekend Market, 3.7 km away, is one of Bangkok's best-known weekend markets. Closer, a Ganesha shrine stands at the Huai Khwang intersection, and The Street Ratchada night market, 1.3 km away, has food stalls and shops in the evening.

For a full day, start at the Chatuchak Weekend Market and go on to Siam Paragon, 5.9 km away, for shopping in the centre, then return for an evening at The Street Ratchada. The metro and taxis make this kind of day easy to plan from the hostel. The Chatuchak Weekend Market is open on weekends, so a visit there fits best into a Saturday or Sunday.
