Most of the rooms are dormitories with bunk beds for one or two guests, and several have a garden view or a balcony or terrace. There is also a 9 m² double room with a bathtub, and a room for two with a bunk bed.

Air conditioning is in most rooms, and free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms. Bathrooms are mostly shared, with showers, toiletries and towels provided, and hair dryers are in most rooms. Several dormitory rooms also have blackout curtains and a reading light, and the double room has a desk and a reading light of its own.

Matini Grand Station Hostel is in Chatuchak, a large district of Bangkok best known for its markets and for the Bang Sue railway junction, which is a short walk from the hostel. The streets around it are busy with traffic, shops and food stalls, and the area is more residential than the tourist centre along the river. For travellers, the rail lines and the metro are close, and the markets are just a short trip away.

The Chatuchak Weekend Market is 1 km away, one of the largest markets in Bangkok and open at weekends. Or Tor Kor Market, known for fresh fruit and produce, is 800 m away, and the Bang Sue MRT station is 650 m away on the Blue Line. For flights, Don Mueang International Airport is 14.7 km away and Suvarnabhumi Airport is 25.6 km away. Wat Thammaphirataram, a pagoda in the Chatuchak area, is also close by.

A day here can start at the Chatuchak Weekend Market, then go into the old city for the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, on the Chao Phraya river. The old city is further by road than the markets, so plan the trip around the traffic, which is heavy at peak hours. In the evening, the river area is a good place to finish, with the Asiatique riverfront on the Chao Phraya.
