Loftel 22 Hostel

The rooms at Loftel 22 Hostel range from a double room and a twin room to a family room and dormitories with bunk beds, including female-only and mixed dormitories. Bathrooms are shared, and some rooms have a street view.

Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and several of them have air conditioning. Some dormitories have blackout curtains, and towels, toiletries and a hair dryer are provided in several of the rooms.

Loftel 22 Hostel has restaurants, a coffee shop and a shared lounge with a TV area, and a rooftop area is also on site. Breakfast is served à la carte, and alcohol is available. The front desk is open 24 hours, and languages spoken include English, Chinese (Mandarin) and Thai.

Charoenkrung Road is one of Bangkok's oldest streets, and the hostel stands in the Sampantawong district on the east bank of the Chao Phraya river, among old shophouses, temples and churches. Talat Noi, a historic riverside neighbourhood, lies a few hundred metres away and is known for Holy Rosary Church, an old Catholic church.

Hua Lamphong, Bangkok's main railway station, is 700 m from the hostel, and the Hua Lamphong MRT station is 600 m away, so trains and the metro are close at hand. The Marine Dept. Pier, 300 m away, is a river ferry terminal, and Wat Arun, on the opposite bank, is 3 km away. The Grand Palace is 3.1 km away.

A good day starts with a walk through the Talat Noi lanes to Holy Rosary Church, then a visit to the Yaowarat Chinatown Heritage Center, a museum on the history of Bangkok's Chinatown. Finish with a river crossing to Wat Arun and its tall prang. Talat Noi's narrow lanes are best explored on foot, and a river crossing is the way to reach the temples on the other bank, so a half-day on the water and a morning in the old streets fit well together.
