The streets around the hotel are lined with street-food stalls and tailors' shops, and the pace stays lively into the evening. Most sights in the old city are reached on foot or by tuk-tuk.

Khao San Road is 400 m away, and Norrarat Market is even closer. The Grand Palace, 1.6 km away, holds the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) within its walls, and Wat Pho (Wat Phra Chetuphon) and Wat Arun, the temple with a tall prang on the bank of the Chao Phraya, are nearby. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, 6.7 km away, is a major weekend market worth a day of its own.

A full day could start at Wat Pho, move on to the Grand Palace and end with the evening lanes of Khao San Road. Getting around is simple too: Sam Yot MRT Station is nearby, and boats run along the river, carrying visitors between the piers of the old city and the riverside hotels.
