The Grand Palace is 22.7 km away, in the old city beside the Chao Phraya river, and is reached by a longer journey through the city.

For a day out, Chatuchak Weekend Market is 15 km away and is one of the largest markets in Bangkok, with thousands of stalls selling clothes, crafts and food. It operates mainly at weekends, so it is worth planning the visit around the days it is open. The old city, with the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, makes a good second day for those who want temples and river views.
