Khaolak Inn

The rooms at Khaolak Inn measure from 26 to 70 m² and sleep between one and five guests. The Standard Twin, the Standard Quadruple Room, the Standard Double or Twin Room and the Standard Single Room each have a private bathroom with a shower, toiletries and towels, and air conditioning. Free WiFi is available in all rooms.

Beds range from a single bed in the Standard Single Room to four single beds in the Standard Quadruple Room, and the Standard Double or Twin Room with Balcony offers a choice of bed set-ups. Khaolak Inn sits on Petchkasem Road in Khao Lak, a coastal town on the Andaman side of Phang Nga province, where a long stretch of sand, forested hills and national parks meet the sea. The beach is 510 m from the inn, and the area feels calmer than the busier beach towns of Phuket further south. Beaches, forest walks and day trips are the main draws here, not nightlife.

Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park is 2.2 km away, with forest trails that climb into the hills, and Ton Chong Fa Waterfall is 4.2 km away in the same hills. The Tsunami Museum, 2.6 km from the inn, tells the story of the 2004 tsunami that struck this coast. Boat trips reach Koh Tapu, the limestone island known as James Bond Island, in Phang Nga Bay, while Similan National Park, 7.9 km away, is the park whose islands are reached by boat.

A day could start on the beach, continue inland to Ton Chong Fa Waterfall and the national park, and end at the Tsunami Museum, a good way to understand the recent history of the coast. Boat trips to Koh Tapu and the Similan Islands depend on the sea, so the weather often decides the itinerary.
