IL Treno Hostel

IL Treno Hostel offers both dormitory beds and private rooms. Air conditioning is part of the rooms, and free Wi-Fi covers all of them. The dormitory rooms have bunk beds, the private room has a double bed, and several rooms look over the city or open onto a balcony or terrace.

The dormitory rooms sleep one guest each, and the private room sleeps up to two. Some rooms have a private bathroom, and the rest share one with a shower. Complimentary tea and instant coffee are offered in some of the rooms, and several have wooden flooring. The Standard Room accommodates up to three guests.

Guests can use a shared lounge and TV area, a bar, and restaurants on site, with a coffee shop and BBQ facilities. The hostel also has a 24-hour front desk, 24-hour room service and daily housekeeping.

IL Treno Hostel is on the Ayutthaya Riverside, the stretch of the old town along the Chao Phraya River, with the river itself 250 m away. Ayutthaya was the capital of the Siamese kingdom for about four centuries, and its ruins, temples and riverside paths are why most travellers come here. The area suits people who want to see the old capital at an unhurried pace, reaching the historic core by bicycle or by a short ride.

From the hostel, Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan is 1.4 km away, with its large seated Buddha image beside the river, and Wat Mahathat is 1.6 km away, where a Buddha head rests among the roots of a tree. The Historic City of Ayutthaya, the UNESCO World Heritage park of ancient ruins, is 2.4 km away, and Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the former royal temple, lies within it. Wat Chaiwatthanaram, with its Khmer-style towers on the Chao Phraya River, lies further out.

Bicycle rental is offered at the hostel, a practical way to cover the temples, and the Ayothaya Floating Market & Elephant Village lies close by. A good day here combines a morning among the ruins of the historic park with a walk along the river.
