The Chong Nonsi BTS station is 200 m away, on the Silom line, and it takes you north to Siam, where the big shopping malls are. Jim Thompson House, a museum of traditional Thai houses, is 2.7 km away, and Asiatique - The Riverfront, a riverside shopping and dining complex, is 3.6 km away. Wat Arun and the Grand Palace are a longer journey, 4.8 km and 4.9 km away, and you can reach both by taxi or by boat from the river piers.

A full day could begin at Jim Thompson House, then continue to the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, and finish with a stroll along the river at Asiatique - The Riverfront in the evening. The Chatuchak Weekend Market is a much larger market that opens on weekends only, so it is best kept for a separate day.
