The Patpong night market, with its street stalls, is also in the Silom district. Wat Arun is 4.5 km away on the far bank of the Chao Phraya, and the Grand Palace is 4.7 km away on the same side of the river as Silom.

Oriental Pier, on the Chao Phraya, is a useful stop for river boats up the river to the temples of the old city. A day could combine the boat to Wat Arun with a walk through the old city to the Grand Palace. Suvarnabhumi Airport is 24.7 km away if you are flying in or out.
