Every room at Fun Dee Hostel and Cafe, Ayutthaya has air conditioning, linens, slippers, a refrigerator and a microwave, and a bathroom shared with other guests. Here the old capital is part of everyday life, so temples and markets sit side by side on the same streets.

Wat Mahathat, 400 m away, is the best known of the sites and is famous for a Buddha head resting among the roots of a tree. Wat Phra Sri Sanphet stands in the grounds of the old royal palace, and Wat Chaiwatthanaram, on the river, is known for its Khmer-style central prang. Ayutthaya Train Station is 1.3 km away and links the town with Bangkok by rail.

A day can start at Wat Mahathat and continue to Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, with the sites reached on foot or by bicycle, and bicycle rental is offered at the hostel. The Chao Phrom Market, 900 m away, sells food and everyday goods, a useful stop for lunch between temples. Between visits, the hostel's cafe and hot tub offer a place to rest.
