Cubic Bangkok Hostel

All rooms have air conditioning. The rooms measure from 14 to 24 m², and the choice runs from dormitories with two or three bunk beds to private twin and double rooms that share the bathroom with other guests. The private twin and double rooms, the Family Bunk Room and the family room for six all have a TV, with satellite and cable channels in some of them.

Some rooms have a city view. The Family Bunk Room, at 21 m², has two bunk beds and sleeps up to four guests. The family room for six has three bunk beds in 24 m² and a city view. A double room with one double bed is 14 m² and sleeps up to two guests.

Guests have a shared lounge and TV area, a shared kitchen and a coffee shop, and buffet and continental breakfast are served. Luggage storage, lockers, daily housekeeping and a laundry service are available, along with a taxi service. A smoking area is set aside for guests who smoke.

The hostel has 24-hour security, and English and Thai are spoken by the staff. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and Wi-Fi also reaches the shared public areas of the hostel.

The hostel stands on Banthat Thong Road in Phathumwan, in the Siam area of central Bangkok, where shopping centres, university campuses and older streets sit close together. The area is well connected by public transport, and the Chulalongkorn University campus is close by, with its green spaces.

Jim Thompson House, a museum of Thai silk and art set in traditional teak houses, is 800 m away, and Siam Paragon, a large shopping centre, is 1.3 km away. The shopping streets of the Siam area are reached on foot from the hostel. The National Stadium BTS station is 700 m away, and the Skytrain connects it to the rest of the city. The Grand Palace is 3.5 km away in the old city, where the temples of Rattanakosin are concentrated, and Chatuchak Weekend Market is 6.7 km away.

A day could start at Jim Thompson House and continue to the Grand Palace and Wat Arun across the river in the old city, before returning to the Siam area for dinner. In the evening the streets of the Siam area fill with street-food stalls and people heading to the shopping centres. Chulalongkorn University Centennial Park, next to the campus, is a quiet place for a walk between sightseeing trips.
