Khao Lak was badly hit by the 2004 tsunami, and the area has several memorials to it, including the Police Boat 813 Tsunami Memorial.

The International Tsunami Museum is a short walk from the hotel, and the Bang Niang Afternoon Market is also close by. Bang Niang Beach is 1.1 km away, and Ton Chong Fa Waterfall is 3.8 km away. Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park, with its walking trails, is 4.7 km away. The nearest airport is in Phuket, and the Khao Lak Bus Station is also close by for onward travel.

For a day out, the Similan National Park islands are 10.4 km away and are reached by boat from the coast, where diving and snorkelling are the main draws. Closer to home, a walk along the beach at Bang Niang and a visit to the afternoon market fill an unhurried day, while the waterfall and the national park suit a morning of hiking.
