Victory Monument, a memorial to the Franco-Thai war of the 1940s, is also close by, and Don Mueang airport is 16.5 km away while Suvarnabhumi is 24.5 km.

A good day could begin early at the Chatuchak Weekend Market, which is busiest at weekends, and continue in the afternoon with the Jim Thompson House, a museum in a traditional Thai house, and the shopping centres around Siam. For the old city, the Grand Palace and Wat Arun lie on opposite banks of the Chao Phraya river, a longer trip from the hotel that is worth planning for the morning.
