Bangkok Sanookdee Hostel

The rooms at Bangkok Sanookdee Hostel run from dormitory-style bunk beds to private rooms and family rooms. Several rooms have a private bathroom and air conditioning, while others share a bathroom with other guests.

Rooms sleep between two and twelve guests, and the family rooms combine a queen bed with bunk beds. Some rooms are for up to three guests, and the dormitory room sleeps four on two bunk beds.

The front desk is open 24 hours a day, and the hostel offers a concierge, luggage storage, daily housekeeping and a laundry service. A shuttle service is also available, and tours can be arranged.

Common areas include a shared lounge with a TV area, a coffee shop, a kitchen and a shared kitchen for guests. A continental breakfast is offered, and free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, with Wi-Fi in the public areas as well.

Paid parking is available for guests who arrive by car. Air conditioning is in the public areas, and the hostel has non-smoking rooms as well as a smoking area set aside for guests who smoke.

Thonburi is the western side of Bangkok, on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya River from the old royal district of Rattanakosin. Thanon Krung Thon Buri runs past the hostel, and the streets around it are more residential than the tourist districts on the east bank. Small shops and local pagodas make up much of the scene here, and the area feels closer to everyday Bangkok than to its best-known sights.

Krung Thon Buri BTS Station is 100 m away, and the Krung Thonburi Golden Line Station is nearby, so the skytrain connects the area to the rest of the city. Taksin Pier, 950 m from the hostel, is a ferry landing for river boats along the Chao Phraya. Wat Arun, on this bank of the river, is 2.8 km away, and Khaosan Road, the backpacker street near the Grand Palace, is 4.2 km away.

A good day starts at The Grand Palace, 3.4 km away on the east bank, with Wat Phra Kaew (the Temple of the Emerald Buddha) inside the same complex, and then crosses back to Wat Arun on this side of the river. The day can end at Asiatique - The Riverfront, a riverside complex of shops and restaurants.
