Sukhumvit 71 runs through the Phra Khanong neighbourhood of Wattana district, a mix of residential streets, local shops and small markets set back from the busiest stretches of Sukhumvit Road. The surrounding lanes are quieter than the main road, with small shops along the way. Here the city centre can be reached by train while the streets around stay residential.
Phra Khanong BTS station is 500 m away, and the Sukhumvit Line trains run from there towards Siam and the city centre, with On Nut station 1.1 km further out. Trains on the Sukhumvit Line are the simplest way to reach the centre from here. Phra Khanong Market is 250 m away, a useful stop for fresh produce and everyday shopping. Siam Paragon, a large shopping mall in the Siam area, is several stops back towards the centre.
For a day out, the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, the latter on the Chao Phraya river, are 12 km away, and the Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the largest weekend markets in Bangkok, is 10.7 km away.
