Rooms at Ayutthaya Retreat can come with air conditioning, a desk, a hair dryer, toiletries and free bottled water. Some have a nature view or a garden view, and the Traditional Thai Villa has a balcony or terrace.

Room sizes are 30 or 35 m² where given, and capacity runs to two or three guests. Some rooms include bathrobes and a shower, and the rooms with a view look over nature or the garden.

Ayutthaya Retreat stands in Ban Pom, a village neighbourhood in Ayutthaya where temples and mosques sit close together. The ruins of the old capital are the main draw of the area, and the resort's garden, terrace and pools make a quiet place to return to in the evening.

Wat Tha Ka Rong, a temple, is 450 m away, and Wat Chaiwatthanaram, with its Khmer-style prang, is 1.6 km away. The Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam) is known for its large reclining statue, and the Historic City of Ayutthaya, the ruins of the old capital, is 2.3 km away. Ayutthaya Train Station is 4.7 km away on the line from Bangkok, and Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) is the nearest airport at 49.8 km.

The ruins are spread across the old city, so a day of sightseeing takes some planning. A day of sightseeing can start at Wat Chaiwatthanaram and move on to the Historic City of Ayutthaya and the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, with the Ayothaya Floating Market & Elephant Village as an afternoon outing.
