At Phranakorn Inn

Visitors come to the district for its old temples, its street food and its busy evening crowds.

Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is 1.6 km away, and the Grand Palace, which sits beside it, is 1.8 km from the inn. Wat Arun stands on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya river, 2.5 km away, and the Jim Thompson House, a museum set in traditional Thai houses, is farther off. The Chatuchak Weekend Market and Siam Paragon are both across the city.

A good day could begin at the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, then take a ferry across the river to Wat Arun, and return to Khaosan Road in the evening for street food. Several ferry piers on the Chao Phraya lie within a few hundred metres of the inn, so the river is easy to use for getting around the old city. Siam Paragon and the Chatuchak Weekend Market lie farther out, so they are better kept for a separate day of shopping.
