Arun Old Town

Arun Old Town has dormitory beds in mixed and female-only rooms, as well as private doubles and twins with a shared bathroom and a Family Room with a private bathroom. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and several room types have a city view.

Beds range from single beds and queen beds to bunk beds in the dormitories. The Mixed Dormitory Room sleeps up to eight guests in bunk beds, and the Family Room sleeps up to four.

Arun Old Town sits in Bangkokyai, on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River, in a district of canals, mosques and temples where local life moves at a slower pace than on the busy eastern bank. The river is the main reference point here: the Bangkok Yai Canal and Tonson Mosque are a few hundred metres away, and the ferry piers along the bank link the neighbourhood with the old city on the far side.

The most recognisable neighbour is Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, 650 m away, with its tall porcelain-covered prang rising above the river. Itsaraphap MRT station is 100 m away, a useful link into the rest of the city, and Wat Pho, the temple of the reclining Buddha, stands on the opposite bank beside the Grand Palace. Khaosan Road, the busy backpacker street, is 2.6 km away on the far side of the river.

For a day out, cross the river in the morning to see Wat Arun and the Grand Palace, then take a river ferry back and head to Khaosan Road in the evening. Chatuchak Weekend Market, with its thousands of stalls, is 9.6 km away and makes a longer trip across town, while Suvarnabhumi Airport is 29.2 km away.
