The rooms at AREA81 HIDEOUT Hostel Khaosan are mostly dormitories with bunk beds, from a 17 m² female dormitory to a 64 m² mixed dormitory, and the hostel also has single rooms for one or two guests. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms.

Several rooms have air conditioning and blackout curtains, and some include a shower, a coffee and tea maker, a microwave or a washing machine. Some rooms have a shared bathroom. The sleeping arrangements are bunk beds and single beds, and the rooms are kept clean with daily housekeeping, with a bed and a shower in most rooms.

AREA81 HIDEOUT Hostel Khaosan stands on Tani in Talat Yot, in the Phra Nakhon district of Bangkok. The Khaosan area is a busy quarter of guesthouses, bars and street-food stalls, and the sounds of the street carry on late into the night. The old city's temples and palaces are a short distance from the neighbourhood, and the bars of Khao San Road are a short walk from the hostel.

Khao San Road is 200 m away, and several of the old city's main sights are close by. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) is 1.2 km away and The Grand Palace 1.4 km, while Wat Arun lies across the river at 2.1 km. Wat Phra Chetuphon, known as Wat Pho, and the Bangkok National Museum are also nearby, and the Phra Arthit pier on the Chao Phraya river is 500 m away.

A full day could start at the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, continue to Wat Arun by river ferry, and end with a walk back along Khao San Road. Many travellers walk between the temples, which are close together, and use the river ferries for longer hops. For trips further into the city, the Sam Yot MRT station is nearby.
