168 Hostel

The rooms at 168 Hostel include an 8 m² private capsule with a double bed, a 9 m² room with two bunk beds, a 10 m² triple with a city view and a 40 m² room with a single bed and a street view. A 50 m² room sleeps up to seven guests, and a family unit sleeps up to eight in eight bunk beds.

Air conditioning is fitted in several of the rooms, and Free WiFi is available in all rooms. Several rooms have shared bathrooms with a shower and a hair dryer, and some have soundproofing or a flat-screen TV. Toiletries and towels are provided in several rooms.

Guests can relax in the garden or the shared lounge with a TV, and the shared kitchen is open for cooking. The garden and the lounge are both shared spaces, so guests can meet other travellers there. A coffee shop and restaurants are available too.

Daily housekeeping, laundry service and a laundromat are offered, and lockers, luggage storage and safety deposit boxes are available for guests. There is 24-hour security, and a convenience store and shops are also part of the hostel's surroundings.

For getting around, guests can arrange tours, and there is a taxi service, car hire and ticket services. Bicycle parking is available, and Internet services and WiFi in public areas are offered too.

168 Hostel is on Banthat Thong Road in Pathumwan District, in the Siam area of Bangkok, a dense neighbourhood of shopping centres, museums and temples. The streets around it are busy with shops and street stalls, and the pace changes quickly from one block to the next. The main temples and palaces of the old city are a short ride away by taxi.

Jim Thompson House, the former home of the American silk entrepreneur Jim Thompson and now a museum, is 600 m away, and the National Stadium BTS station is a short walk from the hostel. The Skytrain gives access to the wider city without a car. Siam Paragon, one of the large shopping malls in the area, is 1.2 km away, and a pagoda stands in the same neighbourhood. Khaosan Road, the busy backpacker street in the old city, is 3.2 km away.

A day can combine the Grand Palace, 3.5 km from the hostel, with Wat Arun on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya river. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, 6.5 km away, is a full day out on weekends, and the Skytrain is the simplest way to reach the central parts of the city from the hostel.
