The airport is close by, while the busier beaches are a longer trip away. The setting is calm in the evenings, and the island's beaches and temples are a day trip away.

Nai Yang Beach is the closest stretch of sand, 950 m away, and Sirinat National Park covers much of the coast around it, with beaches and coastal forest. Maikhao Beach is a little further along the coast, and aircraft pass low over the sand as they come in to land, so it is a known spot for watching planes. The airport viewpoint, 1.7 km away, is another place to watch the planes. The Ni Yang Night Market is 500 m away, and Sirinart Naiyang Park sits nearby.

For a longer outing, Patong Beach is 21.1 km away, and Bangla Road, the nightlife street, lies in the same area. Wat Chalong, Phuket's most revered temple, and the Big Buddha on the hills make good stops for a morning trip, and Phuket FantaSea, about 15.8 km away, works well for an evening out.
