Behind the beach, the Karon Night Market and the Karon Temple Market make up the neighbourhood's evening life. Wat Suwan Khiri Khet, a Buddhist pagoda, is close by as well. Kata Beach, a neighbouring beach with its own sandy bay, is 2.8 km away, and Patong, the island's best-known nightlife area, is 4 km away. Phuket International Airport is 29.1 km away. Karon is also a convenient starting point for trips to the island's other beaches, and Freedom Beach and Nai Harn Beach are well-known sands elsewhere on the island.

For a day out, the Phuket Big Buddha, a large hilltop statue, is one of the island's best-known landmarks, and Wat Chalong, one of its best-known temples, makes a second stop. Phuket is large enough that the longer trips are best made by car or taxi, so plan the days around the roads rather than the beach alone, and keep an evening free for the night market.
