Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong, is 2.3 km away and is one of the best-known Buddhist temples on the island. The Big Buddha stands on a hill above the town, and Karon Beach is 4.5 km away, a long sandy beach lined with restaurants and hotels. Patong, the island's lively beach with nightlife and shops, is a little further on.

A good day combines Wat Chalong with the Big Buddha and the Phuket Botanic Garden, followed by an afternoon at Karon Beach. The Phuket Botanic Garden is a quieter option for a walk among the plant collections. Chalong Pier is the departure point for boats to nearby islands, and Phuket International Airport is 27.3 km from the resort. The island is large, so it is worth planning the day around two or three places rather than trying to see everything.
