Ao Nam Mao is a quiet stretch of the Krabi coast, with a village, a pier and a beach close to the resort. The resort town of Ao Nang, with its restaurants, bars and boat tours, is 4.5 km away. Life here revolves more around beaches, bays and boat trips than around town streets. The coast is made up of small bays, with limestone hills rising behind the beaches.
The beach at Ao Nam Mao is 900 m away, and Ao Nammao Pier, 1.1 km away, is where boats leave for the islands and the bays. Railay Beach, at 4.1 km, is known for its limestone cliffs and rock climbing, and it can be reached only by longtail boat. Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea), 11.6 km away, is a hillside temple complex with a long stairway up to its shrines.
A day could start with a longtail boat trip to Railay, then move on to Phra Nang Cave on the same peninsula, and end at the Krabi Weekend Night Market.
