The area is a base for boat trips and island days, with a village atmosphere and a mix of small restaurants and bars close to the water.

The Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint is 550 m away, a hilltop lookout over the island's narrow isthmus, and Ton Sai Bay is 700 m away. Long Beach, a sandy beach on the island, is 1.4 km away. Dive operators and tour desks are a common sight in Ton Sai. Viking Cave, a limestone sea cave on Phi Phi Leh, and Ao Maya, the bay on the same neighbouring island, are reached by boat from the island.

A day out often pairs the viewpoint with a boat trip to the islands nearby, such as Koh Phai (Bamboo Island), a popular spot for snorkelling. Krabi International Airport lies on the mainland, 45.6 km away, so the last stage of any trip to Ko Phi Phi is by boat.
