Chalong is a town around the bay of the same name on Phuket island, away from the busiest beach strips and closer to everyday local life. Boats, dive centres and small guesthouses share the waterfront, and the pace is calmer than on the busiest beaches. Phuket Town, the island's capital, is the main town for government offices and transport links. Visitors who want to see the island beyond its nightlife will find a quieter side of Phuket here.

Chalong Pier, 100 m away, is where many boat trips to the islands depart. Chaithararam Temple, better known as Wat Chalong, is one of the most revered Buddhist temples on the island and lies 3.1 km from the guesthouse. Big Buddha is a large white marble statue on the hills, 3.5 km away, and Patong Beach, one of the island's best-known beaches, is 9.4 km away, while Kata Beach is 4.9 km away.

For a full day out, start at Wat Chalong, continue to Big Buddha and then head to Kata Beach for the afternoon. Back in Chalong, the Night Market is close by for the evening. Diving and snorkelling trips can be booked with dive centres close to the pier, so the sea is easy to reach from the guesthouse.
