Patong Beach, the island's best-known beach resort, is a drive further on, and Phuket International Airport is 31.7 km away. As the island has no metro, the usual way to reach the temples or Patong is by taxi or hired car.

A good day could begin at Big Buddha, continue to Wat Chalong, and finish back in Kata with a swim at the beach and a walk to the Kata Walking Street Night Market, a few hundred metres from the sand. For a slower afternoon, Kata Noi Beach is another sandy stretch of coast to try nearby.
